Four doors into the same team. Pick the one that sounds like your day and we will take you straight to it, no hunting through a menu.
The part you never see
A residential garage door is one of the heaviest moving objects in a house. The motor only guides it. Everything else is counterbalance: a wound steel spring on a shaft, two cables, two drums, and tracks matched to your exact door. Scroll through the system we work on every day.
Spring → shaft → drum → cable → door
Closed, level, quiet. Every problem starts somewhere behind this panel.
Shaft, spring, drums, cables and track. Four moving assemblies, one balance.
Stored torque pays out through the drums as the cables lift the bottom bracket.
Wire size, inside diameter, length and turns are all specific. Close is not correct.
Lift it halfway by hand with the opener disconnected. If it holds, it is balanced.
Counterbalance
Your opener is a guide, not a lift. The spring above the door stores torque when the door is down and gives it back as the door rises. Done right, a door that weighs as much as a person lifts with two fingers. That is not a trick, it is arithmetic, and it is the whole job.
Disconnect the opener and lift the door halfway by hand. A correctly balanced door stays exactly where you left it. If it slides down, the spring has lost torque. If it flies up, it is over-wound. Either way the opener is doing work it was never built to do, and it will fail long before it should. We run this test on every job before we call it finished, and you are welcome to watch.
My door is broken
Pick the closest one. We will tell you what it usually points to and what to do right now. We will not pretend to diagnose your door from a web page, but we can usually narrow it down before anyone drives out, which means we arrive with the right part on the truck.
Nothing selected yet. If your car is trapped inside or the door will not close, that is an emergency as far as we are concerned. Call or text and we will treat it as one.
New garage doors
A garage door is usually the largest single surface on the front of a home. Changing it changes the whole elevation. Start with the look you want and we will work back to the door, the hardware and the springs that suit it.
Straight dealing
Most people calling about a garage door are not worried about the door. They are worried about who turns up, what it will cost, and whether they are about to be sold something they do not need. So here is exactly how we work.
The human part
You are not calling a dispatch centre that sells your job to whoever is nearest. You are calling the people who will actually be at your house, and who will still be here if something is not right afterwards.
This section is waiting on a real photo, a real name and a line about years in the trade. Nothing here will be invented.
Proof
Not stock photography of somebody else's garage. Every job becomes a short case study, and over time they become the most convincing thing on this website.
This is deliberately empty. The moment we have photographs from actual VNV jobs, each one drops in using the structure below. Ten of these will do more for trust than any amount of design.
Social proof
Genuine reviews only, pulled from Google, Nextdoor and Thumbtack. We would rather show three real ones than thirty invented ones.
There is nothing here because there is nothing genuine to put here yet. The fastest fix is operational rather than design: claim the Google Business Profile, then text every finished customer a single question, "how did we do?", with the review link. Ten honest reviews will outrank a prettier website with none.
NEEDS A GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE FIRSTVNV DoorCare
Almost every emergency call is a part that had been telling somebody it was tired for months. A yearly visit catches it while it is still a small job, and you finish with a written record of exactly what state your door is in.
An example of the report layout, not a real inspection. You get your own after every DoorCare visit.
Where we work
Not sure if you are in range? Call or text (925) 320-1750 and we will tell you straight away.
Send a photo, get help
A photo of the spring above the door, or a short video of what it is doing, tells us more than a paragraph ever could. Send one and we will come back with a real answer rather than a call-out to find out.
New doors, torsion springs, repair, openers and maintenance across the Bay Area. Free estimates, and same-day service on most repairs.
